Finding Relief
from Foot Pain
Many people
experience foot pain for many different reasons.
Quite often foot pain is caused by the shoes
that people wear, either the shoes are too big,
too small or just plain do not fit properly.
Thus, foot pain can often be treated by wearing
the proper footwear. Once such treatment is the
use of shoe inserts. There are many such
products available that should be able to help
you alleviate some of your foot pain.
Gel Heel Cups are beneficial for relieving foot
pain when caused by plantar fascitis and heel
pain, including heel spurs. There are other
treatments for plantar fascitis, but in general,
most people find the gel heel cups to be the
most beneficial. These heel cups supply padding
directly over the area that gives the person the
most pain. They actually elevate the hind foot
slightly, thereby relieving pressure on the
plantar fascia. If you have this problem, you
should outfit all of your shoes with these gel
heel cups, especially those worn all day or for
exercise.
Arch Supports can help relieve various foot
problems such as overpronation and flatfeet.
Although, some people may require a custom
orthotic arch support, most people can buy arch
supports off the shelf. These products do not
change the mechanics of the foot, even though
some vendors claim that they do, but they may
relieve symptoms. There are various arch support
products on the market, and you should not need
to pay a great deal of money for them; so shop
around.
Heel Wedges are inserted into your shoe and set
in the back. The wedge can elevate your heel and
take pressure off of the hind foot. Begin by
using a small wedge, then you can build up to
larger ones if necessary. These wedges seem to
be particularly effective for the treatment of
Achilles tendonitis. Some people also get relief
from plantar fascitis and heel spurs, although
the heel cups probably would be more beneficial
for those ailments.
Metatarsal pads help alleviate pressure under
the ball of the foot. This type of pain is also
known as metatarsalgia, and the metatarsal pads
can assist in relieving these symptoms.
